About me

I teach research methods, applied economics, and collaborative policy in Sacramento State's master's program in Public Policy & Administration and certificate program in Collaborative Governance. I also work closely with mediators at the Center for Collaborative Policy, where I serve as Research Director.

Research Program:
The Center's research seeks to create stronger ties between theory and practice in collaborative policy. We focus in three broad areas: (1) evaluation of collaborative policy outcomes, (2) public participation in government decisionmaking, and (3) opportunities for building collaborative capacity. Our research is designed to support the public service mission of Sacramento State as well as the Center's core mission of building the capacity of government agencies, stakeholder groups, and the public to use collaborative strategies to improve policy outcomes.

Current Research:
Aquaculture Partnerships Project (see link above). This national study investigates ten collaborative efforts to influence the science and policy decisions that will shape the future of marine aquaculture in the United States.
