Dr. Antje Lauer
About me
I am a microbial ecologist interested in interactions between microbes and in symbioses between microorganisms and invertebrates and vertebrates. Currently i have three research projects which focus on:
1. Invasive Bryzoan species and their associated microorganisms, especially antifungal ones.
2. Cutaneous bacteria of amphibians that can inhibit the amphibian fungal pathogen Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis which is responsible for major amphibian declines worldwide.
3. Investigating loamy sands around Bakersfield, searching for Coccidioides immitis (The Valley Fever Fungus) growth sites, and identifying potential antagonistic microorganisms.
My research group consists of 2 graduate and 6 undergraduate students.
